Sponsor a Child

29 May 2026 / Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong

Children from a village in Karbi Anglong

Children between the ages of 8 and 16, primarily from tribal communities in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, are often sent to towns in search of education. Families make this difficult decision with hope, but the cost of schooling, boarding, transport, books, uniforms, and daily needs can become a heavy burden.

When families cannot meet these costs, some children are placed in the homes of others. In many cases, this arrangement does not provide the protection or education the child needs. Children may be deprived of basic rights, kept in unsafe living conditions, treated as domestic workers, or exposed to abuse, exploitation, and trafficking risks. Some are not even enrolled in school.

The loss is not only educational. Children who are separated from their families and communities for long periods may begin to lose their own language, culture, and traditions. They can grow up disconnected from the very roots that give them identity, confidence, and belonging.

KABC's child sponsorship vision is to help vulnerable children continue their education with dignity and safety. Sponsorship can reduce the financial pressure on families, support school-related expenses, and help children remain protected while they learn. It is a practical way to stand with children, families, and communities so that education becomes a path of hope rather than a doorway to risk.

Through this effort, KABC seeks to protect childhood, strengthen education, and help children grow without losing their culture, language, and God-given dignity.
